A group of children were very intrigued with the objects in a water trough. The children talked about how some of the objects were floating and some were sinking. We wondered why some things float and some sink.
Some of the children gave their thoughts on why things float and some sink.
Then we decided we needed to get the opinion of an expert!!
I can see there was awesome thinking happening at discovery with floating and sinking!!Okay then Mr Fitzsimons said he thinks you can heavy things that hold lots of air that will float. I have got a coffee cup that is holding lots of air, I wonder if it will sink or float? What would happen if a hot air balloon landed on the water? You have all got me wondering now.
